Bates Motel was an American TV drama series that premiered on cable network A&E from 2013 to 2017, over five seasons. The show was created for television by Anthony Cipriano, Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin, inspired by the characters created by author Robert Bloch.
The show is based around the relationship between Norma Bates and her teenage son Norman and details how the latter would come to be the character from the novel and the 1960 Hitchcock movie.

- Prior to the show's premiere in 2013, A&E Networks and the show's production team launched a contest allowing fans to have a say in the creation of the show's 15-second title sequence. The Facebook contest ran from December 5, 2012 to January 3, 2013.[1]
