Bradley Martin is a beautiful, popular, affluent, seventeen-year-old girl who befriends Norman out of kindness, but is ultimately surprised to find herself drawn to him in other, deeper ways.
Bradley befriended Norman Bates out of kindness when he first moved into White Pine Bay with his mother, Norma Bates. Bradley's father died in front of Norman, Bradley, and some friends; his car crashed, and his body was seen, very burnt-up. Bradley began to heavily mourn her father, and Norman constantly supported and consoled her. She eventually contacted him one night, asking him to go to her house. There, the Bradley-Norman relationship truly started.
Norman would later go to Bradley's house again, however this time, she told him that she didn't "feel that way" about him and told him that they were not a couple. He angrily stormed off, but she comforted him with a hug (possibly preventing him from blacking out and killing her). Bradley was later embarrassed when "rumors" about her and Norman were spread at school; the source was Emma Decody, Norman's best friend who had told Bradley's friends the truth about the Bradley-Norman relationship after overhearing them talking about Norman as if he would never have a chance with Bradley. An upset Bradley confronted Norman, and he, in turn, confronted Emma, who apoligized and explained that she had only been trying to protect Norman's feelings.
Bradley soon approached Norman's older brother, Dylan Massett, who had replaced her father at work. Bradley convinced Dylan to help her retrieve some of her father's items from his office. When they did, they were nearly shot by Remo, but were eventually able to find some items. Upon discovering love letters exchanged between her father and someone known as "B", Bradley broke down, crying. Dylan consoled her, collected the items, and they left.
The next day, Dylan gave Bradley all of the items in a box. They started to bond over the experience of nearly getting killed the night before, angering Norman, who was listening in on them. At the dance that night, Norman eyed Bradley continously, causing Emma (his date) to leave. Bradley's boyfriend, Richard Slymore, also noticed and punched Norman.
