Patty Lin is a deputy with the White Pine Bay Sheriff's Department. She replaced the previous deceased deputy, Zack Shelby.

Lin helped take Norman Bates in for questioning in relation to the death of Jimmy Brennen. She took his blood, hair, clippings, clothes, later locked him in his cell, and woke up her contact at the state lab to handle Norman's samples (although Sheriff Alex Romero hadn't asked her to do the last part). She later entered his DNA into the system (without Romero's permission) and discovered new evidence linking him to the death of Blaire Watson. (Presumed Innocent)
Romero convinced Lin not to stress over Norman's involvement in the Watson case and instead told her to focus on finding Zane Morgan, who had disappeared. When she failed to find Zane, Romero told her to continue trying and to be less "nice". (Meltdown)
